The incomes of continuing participants in a workfare program in Argentina are compared to those of a matched comparison group of non-participants and with a matched group of past participants who leave the program. We find partial income replacement, amounting to only one-quarter of the gross workfare wage within six months of leaving the program, though rising to one half in 12 months. The estimates are unbiased in the presence of a time-invariant errors due to miss-matching.
