HANAN JACOBY, is a lead economist in the rural development group with interests in rural household behavior, agrarian contracts, and human capital investment. He received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago in 1989. Before joining the Bank in 1998, he taught at the University of Rochester. He also spent three years based in the World Bank Madagascar country office.
