Paulo Bastos

Economist

PAULO BASTOS is an Economist at the Development Research Group, Trade and Integration Unit. His research focuses primarily on the implications of globalization for unionized labor markets, the nexus between migration and trade, and the impacts of freer trade and cross-border investment on product innovation, quality upgrading and wage inequality. His work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of International Economics, Journal of Development Economics, International Journal of Industrial Organization and Canadian Journal of Economics, among several others. Prior to joining the World Bank, he held positions at the Research Department of the Inter-American Development Bank, the European Commission and the University of Nottingham. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nottingham and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Porto.
