World Development Report 2007: Development and the Next Generation

JUAN FELIPE SANCHEZ joined the Children & Youth team – Human Development Hub – in April, 2003, seconded from Plan, an international NGO working in more than 45 countries with a community-based, child/youth-centered, development approach. An urban and regional planner, he was responsible for Plan’s country operations in El Salvador, Philippines and Burkina Faso, facilitating cross-sectoral community-based programs with a focus on: basic child/maternal and reproductive health; formal/non-formal basic education; potable water and sanitation; community-based agriculture and livelihood activities; and local capacity building, participation, community planning, and empowerment. His current areas of interest include: mainstreaming children and youth concerns into cross-sector national and local policies and into the Bank's operations, children and youth in city development strategies, and youth participation and engagement.
