Health & Environmental Conditions of Urban Live Markets and Slaughter Facilities & Management of Livestock Wastes in Cities

With the rise in intensive peri-urban livestock production, increased use of antibiotics in feed, growing global threat from antibiotic-resistant pathogens and emerging zoonotic diseases, management of livestock wastes is a growing global public good. This seminar presented the recent Japan CTF sponsored global study on animal wastes management at urban slaughterhouses and live markets, including what is being informally recycled.
