Research Highlights 2009 offers a brief account of the activities of the Development Research Group, the World Bank’s principal research unit, located in the Development Economics Vice Presidency. A note from the Director reflects on lessons from the financial crisis and its implications for the research program looking forward. The Development Research Group continues to focus on development themes that cut across sectors and regions and reflect strong country demand, as well as the World Bank's priorities of reducing poverty in a fiscally, environmentally, and socially sustainable manner. The abbreviated report (see in this report) features selected research in 2009 that reflects the breadth and depth of the seven research programs. This online version includes a link to the abbreviated print version, as well as a description of current research programs, a full list of publications for the year (some of them available online), and links to new and updated public-access datasets (below).
