Forhad Shilpi

FORHAD SHILPI holds a joint appointment as a Senior Economist in the Development Research Group (Rural Development Team) and South Asia Region (Rural Development). She is currently working on the impact of spatial agglomeration forces including infrastructure on the pattern of specialization and the level of commercialization in a rural economy. She is also working on the impact of isolation on subjective well being of rural households. She holds a Ph. D degree in economics from the Johns Hopkins University. She taught econometrics and macroeconomics at the Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked as a research associate at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies.
