Session 1 - Countries programs
Presenters: Country project directors

In this session, each project director will briefly introduce key features of their country panel survey program and report on activities to date, future plans and main constraints.

 

Session 2 - Why panel surveys? A researcher's perspective
Presenters: Murray Leibbrandt  and Ingrid Woolard 

The presentation will highlight some of the key features of a panel and its analytical advantages and applications.  During the discussion, collaborators for the analysis of the LSMS-ISA data will be identified in each country.

 

Session 3- Tracking households and individuals
Presenter: Firman Witoelar 

In this session, the presenter will discuss the rationale and implications for tracking household and individuals and offer practical suggestions on how to reduce attrition in panel surveys.

Session 4 – Methodological validations
Presenter: Kathleen Beegle and Alberto Zezza 

In this session, the presenter will report on on-going research and methodological validation activities and, jointly with participants, identify key exercises which could be carried out in each country.

 

Session 5: Computer Assisted Personal Interviews
Presenter: Joachim De Weeerdt 

The presentation will focus on some of the technical aspects in the design of a CAPI application and discuss the available options.

The objective of this session is to elaborate a common dissemination strategy across participating countries.
