Description and Format

The questionnaire is an essential tool for using the data. In addition to containing the questions, it also contains codes and skip patterns.

Describes the design of the survey and its coverage for potential users and provides general information about the general characteristics of the survey.

This document is written in English and provides a general description of the 1994 ENNIV and is designed to be used in addition to the Basic Information Document.  It also contains information useful to researchers using both the 1991 and 1994 data.

Description of the Construction of Income and Expenditure Aggregates: This document details how annual income and expenditures were constructed. There is little to no written description. This document can only be understood with the survey questionnaire in hand. It can also be used to infer the construction of income and expenditures aggregates for previous surveys such as 1991.

This document identifies many composite variables necessary to use the data correctly. The key information includes a description of the components of a household identifier (segmento, vivienda, hogar), description of all location codes used (i) Geographical Location (distrito, provincia, departamento); (ii) Population Centers (distrito, provincia, departamento); (iii) Types of Population Center and (iv) Country. Other important codes (v) economic activity; (vi) occupation; (vii) crops; (viii) breeding stock; (ix) agricultural sub-products; (x) livestock sub-products; (xi) pesticides; and (xii) goods and services.

This document starts with a description of the scope and the objectives of the survey but concentrates on the execution of the study itself: the responsibilities of the survey team members, the time frame of the assigned tasks, interviewing techniques, basic concepts and definitions, objectives of each section and who to interview for each section, how to obtain the required information and fill out the questionnaire.

This document begins with a brief description of the objectives, themes and characteristics of the questionnaire. It most useful for is its descriptive definitions of the variables investigated in the survey.
