Datasets

413. Trade Production and Protection 1976–2004. This database updates the Trade and Production database made available in 2001. It provides a broad set of data covering trade, production and protection data for 28 manufacturing sectors corresponding to the 3-digit level International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC), Revision 2 for 100 developing and developed countries during 1976–2004, but data availability varies by country and year.
Website: http://go.worldbank.org/EQW3W5UTP0

414. Overall Trade Restrictiveness Indices. This database provides indicators of trade restrictiveness that include both measures of tariff and nontariff barriers. The database covers 72 developing and developed countries plus the European Union. For each country there are estimates of three trade restrictiveness indices. The first index captures the extent to which trade policies at home affect domestic welfare. The second index captures the impact of trade distortions on each country’s import bundle. The third index summarizes the trade distortions imposed by the rest of the world on each country’s export bundle. Each of these indices is provided for the broad aggregates of manufacturing and agriculture products. Measure of deadweight loss and import losses consequent to the existing trade restrictiveness are also provided.
Website: http://go.worldbank.org/C5VQJIV3H0.

415. Import Demand Elasticities. This database provides estimates of import demand elasticities for a broad set of developing and developed countries. The estimates are provided at a very disaggregated level of product detail (HS 6 digit).
Website: http://go.worldbank.org/C5VQJIV3H0.

416. Global Antidumping Database version 2.1. This database provides information on the users of contingent protection measures. The database uses national government documentation to organize information on products, firms, the investigative procedure and outcomes of the historical use (since the 1980s) of the antidumping policy instrument across large importing country users. Data on safeguards investigations includes information on products, the investigative procedure and outcomes including details on the structure of measures (including exempted countries) of the policy’s 1995–2005 used by all WTO members. It also reports more and recent data on a number of smaller users of antidumping, as well as some limited information on the use of countervailing measures from national governments.

417. WTO Dispute Settlement Database. The dataset covers all 311 WTO disputes initiated through the official filing of a Request for Consultations at the WTO, from 1 January 1995 until July 31, 2004, and for these disputes it includes events occurring until February 28, 2005. For these disputes, the dataset covers exhaustively all stages of dispute settlement proceedings, from the moment when consultations are being requested to the eventual implementation of the rulings.
