The Report was prepared by the Development Prospects Group in the World Bank, drawing on resources throughout the Development Economics Vice Presidency and the World Bank’s Operational regions. William Shaw was the lead author and manager of the report, under the direction of Uri Dadush. The Report was prepared under the general guidance of the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President, Nicholas Stern. Core team members and chapter authors were:
William Shaw retired in 2004 as Lead Economist for the International Finance Team of the Development Prospects Group and is currently working with the group as the principal author of the Global Economic Prospects 2006 Report. He has also worked in Regional Operations on Bolivia, Tanzania, and private sector development issues in the Caribbean. Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Shaw worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Mr. Shaw holds a Ph.D. from George Washington University. Hans Timmer is Lead Economist and Manager of the Global Trends Team in the Development Prospects Group. Before joining the Bank in May 2000, he was head of international economic analysis at the Central Planning Bureau (CPB) for ten years. He has had vast experience working with the European Commission, IPCC and the OECD, as well as with the Indian Planning Commission and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and has participated in international modeling groups such as LINK and GTAP. Hans Timmer studied Econometrics at Erasmus University, Rotterdam and has been a researcher at the University of Lodz in Poland and at the Netherlands Economic Institute. 
Ataman Aksoy has been working with the Development Prospects Group recently as principal author of the report on Developing Countries and Global Agricultural Trade. He retired from the Bank in 2003 as Economic Adviser to the Development Prospects Group. He also served as acting manager of the PREM Trade Department upon its creation and was actively involved in the global dialogue on trade and development in the context of the Doha Development Agenda. His previous Bank experience includes positions as Sector Manager of the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia Region, Economist in the South Asia Country Programs Department, Principal Economist in Asia's Industry & Finance Operations Division, Principal Economist in the Southern Africa Department, Division Chief for the Macro, Industry & Finance Division, and Sector Manager of the Macroeconomics Division for the Africa Technical Families. Before joining the Bank, Ataman Aksoy taught economics at George Washington University (also as a Fulbright Professor), Boston College, Middle East Technical University (as Chair of the Economics Department), and the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Aksoy holds a B.S. in Economics/Statistics from Middle East Technical University, an M.A. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Boston College. Dominique van der Mensbrugghe a Lead Economist for the Development Prospects Group. His main responsibilities include developing scenarios on long-term economic prospects for developing countries and undertaking detailed trade policy analysis. Before joining the World Bank, he worked for a decade at the OECD Development Centre. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Louvain University in Belgium.
